Autism Awareness & Support

This half-day Autism Awareness & Support course is suitable for nurses and carers.

Course Length. 6 hours

Introduction

This full day course helps staff to identify Autistic Spectrum Disorders, how they are diagnosed and how people with the condition can be supported effectively. A range of practical tips and techniques are explored and discussed as part of the learning.

Course Contents

What is an Autistic Spectrum Disorder?
Possible causes of autism, including health, psychological, genetic and environmental factors
Possible Autistic behaviours, including challenging behaviour and social interaction impairments
How Autism is diagnosed
Autism Management
Supporting people with Autism, including practical tools and tips

Course Outcomes

Your staff will be equipped with all the relevant knowledge and an understanding of the various Autism instances you may face within a care setting, and how to approach each.
