Catheter and Stoma Care

This is a half day course on Catheter and Stoma Care.

Course Length. 2-3 hours

Introduction

Urinary catheters and faecal stomas can increase a person’s chance of developing infection greatly if not properly cared for. This half day course gives those with responsibility for their care the knowledge and practical ways devices should be cared for, once fitted.

Types of urinary catheter: Indwelling, Suprapubic, Sheath
Catheter care
Problem spotting
Ostomies: Ileostomy, Colostomy, Jejunostomy, Gastrostomy
Ostomy care
Ostomy appliances: One piece and two piece
Ostomy accessories
Diet and ostomies

Course Outcomes

Successful completion of this training course will result in the award of a CPD certificate covering all aspects of the above course contents.
